Job Description Summary
GE Vernova would like to recruit a Communications Engineer to work from our office in Lisburn. You will be part of GE Grid Solutions – Monitoring and Diagnostics.
The Communications Engineer will be a team player, contributing to the ongoing delivery of existing product solutions, and the development of new products, focused on Communication protocols.
The task is full cycle, from the specification of new solutions, through to test and delivery.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities

Generate comprehensive technical design documentation relating to customer communication requirements.

Support and development of the current products.

Resolve customer technical communication issues.

Configuration and test of communications hardware.
-
Point mapping across protocols to support product development.

Assist with training support teams, on new communications hardware and software.

Preparation of configuration and test documentation for internal and external use.
Required Qualifications

Degree (or equivalent) in electrical / electronic / telecommunication engineering OR experience in communications setup for industrial products.

Proven experience in the configuration and test of physical layer communications (e.g. RS232, RS485, Ethernet, GSM/GPRS, Fibre COMMs, WIFI).

Experience with various Protocols and communication methods (e.g. MODBUS, TCP, DNP3, IEC61850, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, P2P, VPNs, MMS, MQTT).

RTU configuration experience.
Desired Characteristics
-
Experience working in the power/utilities industry.

Experience in Triangle MicroWorks tool set.

Experience in the automation of communications testing (e.g. using Python).
