We’re searching our next Internal Communications Specialist. This role requires experience with internal communications and will focus on activities that support an office at the U.S. Department of Energy.

The candidate will be highly motivated, passionate, and knowledgeable about engaging with internal stakeholders and honing messages that are spot on. Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft media backgrounders, briefing sheets, and other communication deliverables.

  • Distribute daily news clips, as well as analysis of print and online stories to determine the effectiveness of outreach.

  • Assist in creating monthly media report by searching and categorizing large amounts of media coverage every month, as well as ad-hoc media coverage reports.

  • Stay apprised of the latest trends, tools, and techniques used to garner earned media coverage, as well as digital and traditional outlets covering clean and renewable energy news.

  • Maintain a database containing interactions with media outlets.

As a Communications Associate, Internal Communications, you will have:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Able to obtain a public trust. 

  • Must be a U.S. citizen (contractual requirement). 

  • BS/BA in Marketing, PR, Communications, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience within agency and/or internal communications environment. 

Professional Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills. 

  • Excellent writing skills.  

  • Experience working within a team environment. 

  • Strong proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Word.  

  • Comfortable working with remote teams.  

  • Experience developing project timelines and presenting to leadership teams.  

  • Detail oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.  

  • Ability to work independently, seek help as needed and contribute to team and company culture.  

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Strong research and organizational skills.

  • PR agency, corporate or government agency experience preferred.

  • Self-starter, with ability to manage tasks and handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision. 

Job Location(s):  Hybrid. The client is located in Washington D.C. and this candidate must be available to work from the client site at least one day a week (Tuesdays).

Pay Range – There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$59,837.00 – $101,722.00
