Job Description Summary

The Commissioning Lead works collaboratively with the team to organize and deliver Wind Farm Projects of various size and scope depending on geography and project. The Commissioning Lead is a critical role accountable for activities and direct management of GE employees, leased workers and contracted services to commission GE windfarms. Overall scope includes managing daily commissioning operations as well as exemplify excellence in leadership, safety, and quality control. You will partner closely with the Site Manager to execute on contract requirements and ensure alignment with GE operational excellence.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Be directly responsible for the Site Wind Commissioning activities from project mobilization through customer acceptance of last unit, managing site commissioning resources and fulfilling contractual obligations.

  • Work with the Site Manager, Engineering, Field Operations Centers of Excellence and other teams as required to review and implement all applicable commissioning documents and processes, verify technical compliance during all phases of Wind Turbine commissioning, and support to resolve any project issues affecting Commissioning activities.

  • Daily management to ensure compliance of the technical documents and Quality processes.

  • Ensure adequate training, qualifications, as well as adequate tools’ availability for GE and contractor site commissioning resources.

  • Be an advocate for Safety and adhere all GE EHS processes and rules, safety instructions given by (local) law and regulations with a particular focus on electrical safety/LOTO. Attend and support RFR (Red Flag Review) meetings to be conducted prior to each project phase and execution of required retrofits during commissioning phase.

  • Manage and maintain all equipment including tooling in a responsible manner to ensure safety, quality, delivery on customer expectations and cost optimization. Plan, request and maintain any special tooling requirements.

  • Be innovative and engaged in all areas of site commissioning. Support LEAN activities and continuous improvement.

  • In line with GE Leadership Behaviors; Act with humility, lead with transparency and deliver with focus. Evaluate, mentor, and develop site commissioning teams.

In addition to the above-mentioned responsibilities the future job holder will be flexible and willing to act as a representative of the Site Manager, Commissioning Lead and EHS site manager in case of a temporary absence. Represent GE in a responsible manner with integrity and by exercising good judgment.

Skills & Experience

  • Industry recognized Qualification/Certification in Electrical Engineering or Australian electrical license

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience performing all aspects of Wind Turbine commissioning work

  • Demonstrated trade or heavy lift experience

  • Demonstrated experience influencing others and leading teams

  • Standard industry safety training (GWO)

  • Advocate for health, safety, and environmental matters; detailed knowledge about EHS & Safety regulations

  • Medical capability for working at heights according to international and/or local standards

  • Valid Driving License

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated skill set and experience as per GE training matrix for Commissioning (applies to internal candidates)

  • Awareness of and experience in Quality processes and ability to instill quality mindset in site team

  • Ability to work under pressure while continuing to follow safety and quality guidelines

  • Analytic skills regarding technical tasks and processes

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to negotiate in complex environments

  • Good knowledge in reporting and documentation

  • Trained to Global Wind Organization (GWO) standard.

  • Very high flexibility with a willingness to travel domestically and internationally whilst assigned to site on a rotational basis.

Qualifications

  • Industry recognized Qualification/Certification in Electrical Engineering and Australian electrical license is highly favorable

  • Relevant Product & EHS training certifications
