The collections range from prehistory through to the 19th century, covering key curriculum subjects.We are looking for a Commercial Services and Marketing Manager to join our friendly and professional team!The Commercial Services and Marketing Manager will be required to manage the commercial services and marketing of the Museums Service and Cirencester Visitor Information Centre, seeking to maximise the profitability of all retail aspects of the museum, particularly through the museum shop.You will have the exciting responsibility of spearheading our marketing efforts, actively seeking out ways to elevate the museum’s visibility at a local, regional, and national level. Your keen business sense will help identify and pursue lucrative partnerships, allowing us to showcase the museum as an appealing venue for various occasions.In the event that a high volume of suitable applications are received, the post may close prior to the specified closing date. Please apply as soon as possible if interested.Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday – FridayWorking one evening a month is a requirement as part of a staffing rota and occasional weekend working may be required.Requirements:

  • 2-years experience in a similar related role
  • Working knowledge and background in retail and marketing
  • Experience of sourcing external funding or grants for projects
  • Experience of WordPress and websites
  • Demonstrable experience of social media and digital engagement
  • High proficiency and expertise in appropriate IT Systems – including MS Office, Adobe Photoshop, video-editing software and database systems
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Methodical, with excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • High level of numeracy
  • Line management experience and team working skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Experience of buying retail products with general knowledge of retail best practice across museums and heritage sites
  • An understanding of financial systems and procedures with a willingness to learn new systems
  • An aptitude for creative flair with experience of marketing campaigns
  • Ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines
  • Personable with excellent negotiating skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with a high level of judgement, tact and discretion
  • Ability to record and deal with data accurately and effectively

  • Experience of using Shopify or other retail POS system
  • A working knowledge of developing and installing displays

  • Knowledge of Museum marketing and current trends
