Job DescriptionChief Medical Scientist / Chief Biomedical Scientist (Blood Sciences)A leading independent provider of medical laboratory testing services is seeking an experienced and ambitious Chief Medical Scientist / Chief Biomedical Scientist to lead its Blood Sciences department on a full time permanent basis. This is a senior role ideal for professionals with extensive experience in Clinical Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Haematology. You will oversee daily operations, manage resources, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-focused laboratory services.Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring timely and accurate results in line with ISO15189 standards.
  • Lead a large team, managing staff training and development.
  • Collaborate with senior management on departmental goals and quality objectives.
  • Ensure equipment maintenance and stock management.
  • Monitor and investigate non-conformances, and ensure service improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical/Biological Sciences.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a medical testing lab, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • CORU or HCPC registration required.
