Learning Design and Innovation (LDI) resides in the Learning and Teaching portfolio and is responsible for developing strategic directions in digital learning, cross-sector learning design, the use of educational technologies and physical learning environments at VU. The Digital Learning Environments (DLE) team provide direct support, training, and advice in the use of VUC Collaborate and associated tools and systems to staff. In addition, the DLE Team administer University L&T software applications and liaises with vendors and IT Services on issues, enhancements and improvements to tools and functionality.   

About the Role: 

The primary purpose of the Casual Professional Support Officer is to provide support and assistance to administrative, teaching staff and academics on the use of the VU Collaborate (the D2L Brightspace LMS) and all associated tools and systems.

This is a Casual Position at HEP5 classification ($48.14 per hour) plus employer superannuation working up to 36.75 hours per week until December 2024. 

An example of the duties you may perform include: 

  • Monitor and respond to helpdesk tickets and LiveChat, escalating issues as appropriate
  • Provide technical support to administrative, teaching, and academic staff in the use of LMS (VU Collaborate) and associated tools and system 
  • Provide support via email, Zoom, LiveChat and in-person in our Learning and Teaching support centre (Hive – at the City Tower campus).
  • Knowledge and experience of a range of current online learning platforms and applications, including Padlet, H5P, HTML and MS Office Suite.
  • Update guides, documentation, resources and the VU Collaborate websites for staff and students

About You:

  • Aptitude or ability to work with relevant University systems and databases.
  • Ability to apply skilled technical, analytical, and problem solving to provide support and advice.
  • Ability to work independently, seeking clarification and advice from the Professional Learning Coordinator or relevant University policy and procedures as needed.
