The project’s general objective is to help reduce the negative impact on health and the environment caused by pollution and contamination of air, soil, and water in Lebanon, in accordance with SDG 3.9. This impact is to be achieved by developing models of environmental and social responsibility over 3 years, particularly concerning the management of urban solid waste in the Governorate of Nabathiye and the South for 12 municipalities and 20 MSMEs . This objective will be achieved by reaching 3 results: the system of collection, treatment, and disposal of solid waste is improved in 12 municipalities in the Hasbaya district (R1; R2); productivity, innovation, sustainable production and consumption, and the creation of decent jobs are promoted for 20 MSMEs in the waste sector in the districts of Hasbaya, Saida, and Tyre (R3). The project is WASTE OR RESOURCE? Environmental and Social Responsibility of Businesses and Municipalities, it’s financeb by AICS. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordination of the waste campaign

  • Develop a campaign plan, including objectives, target audience, key messages, communication channels, and timeline. The awareness campaign will be community-based and will focus on the correct waste separation and disposal.
  • Collaborate with project partners and stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for campaign objectives;
  • Create informational materials to raise awareness about waste segregation (brochures, posters, videos, social media content on IG, X, LinkedIn, and website content);
  • Organize community events, workshops, and training sessions to educate and engage the community on the benefits and practices of waste segregation;
  • Establish partnerships with local schools, businesses, and community organizations to amplify the campaign’s impact;
  • Develop a monitoring and evaluation framework to assess the effectiveness and impact of the awareness campaign;
  • Collect and analyse data related to key performance indicators;
  • Prepare periodic progress reports and provide recommendations for improvement based on evaluation results.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: At least a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Communication, Public Relations, Project Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Language: Fluent in English and Arabic, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of environmental issues, particularly waste management and sustainability practices.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in using project management and communication tools (e.g., MS Office, social media platforms, graphic design software).
  • Flexibility to work in different locations (Beirut and Hasbaya) and adapt to changing project needs and conditions.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Campaign Management: At least 3-5 years of experience in designing and managing public awareness campaigns for no-profit sector, preferably in the environmental sector.
  • Community Engagement: Demonstrated experience in organizing community events, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Content Creation: Experience in developing educational and promotional materials (brochures, posters, videos, social media content).

  • Strategic Planning: Ability to develop comprehensive campaign plans with clear objectives, target audiences, key messages, and timelines.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with project partners and stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for campaign objectives.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling and informative content for various platforms.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to collect, analyse, and interpret data related to key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of campaigns.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding and respect for cultural, gender, religion, and age diversity, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse communities.
  • Innovation: Creative thinking and problem-solving skills to develop innovative approaches to waste segregation and community engagement.
