The TeamUnder the leadership of the Director of Business Development & Marketing (BD&M), the department provides a broad range of support to the wider firm across Business Development, Bids, Marketing, Communications and Events, comprising 17 members in total.The RoleThis is a hands-on role in a busy, business development and marketing team. You will be working alongside a team of specialists who are focussed on developing client relationships, winning new business and developing and maintaining our position as go-to advisors in our sectors. You will participate in a range of interesting marketing activities, building the firm’s visibility through a programme of marketing campaigns, thought leadership and events that will raise the profile of the firm and generate new leads. The role will also give you the opportunity to develop expertise in analysing client and sector performance, event coordination, digital marketing, copy writing, database management and working with AI technologies.As an entry level role you will be provided with a comprehensive training programme designed to develop your skills and knowledge, setting the foundation for your career in business development and marketing. This role is a great opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, support the full BD&M team and coordinate key activities with exposure to all sectors that the firm works in.BD&M at Capsticks covers a wide range of specialisms and you will participate in a series of rotations across the following sub-teams, as well as providing general support across all areas and adapting to the needs of the business as required.

Candidates will be expected to work from the Wimbledon office a minimum of two days a week with occasional travel to the firms other offices as well as events outside of London, with occasional overnight stays.Role start date: Monday 2 SeptemberMain duties and responsibilities

  • Supporting the Business Development Managers (BDMs) by coordinating key activities that help to deliver sector and client plans
  • Helping to build relationships with external partners to develop the brand
  • Working with the BDMs to review and analyse client performance data
  • Attending sector meetings as required, coordinating actions agreed and assisting the BDMs to demonstrate progress
  • Supporting with the firms programme of events, including corporate hospitality, webinars and seminars
  • Assisting with pre-event set up and registration of guests
  • Working closely with Partners and other stakeholders across the firm to ensure deadlines are met
  • Ensuring that marketing activity, including events and campaigns, are adequately followed up and actions documented
  • Working alongside the marketing team to coordinate events, sector campaigns and communications
  • Collating the results from competitor research and market analysis to assess opportunities and intel.
  • Managing the firm’s CVs, ensuring new joiners have a CV and updating all others. As and when required, supporting the bids team with CVs
  • Preparing submissions for firm league tables, for example The Lawyer UK top 200
  • Assisting with the production of the firm’s directory submissions, including managing deadlines, coordinating content and liaising with researchers to set up interviews
  • Sending mailings and invitations via our email marketing platform (Vuture)
  • Using social media to create engaging posts
  • Assisting with the firms social media and website content
  • Supporting with pre-recorded content, including videos and podcast production
  • Working with sector teams to ensure Client information is captured within the firm’s CRM system and that we get the most out of the system
  • Creating and maintaining marketing initiatives and mailing lists on CRM (OnePlace)
  • Supporting the Senior CRM Executive to keep the database as up-to-date as possible, including GDPR compliant data cleansing
  • Assisting with firm wide projects and campaigns

Other dutiesAny other duties as reasonably requested by either the Director of BD & M or the Head of Marketing Operations, such as providing support on a wide range of projects and contributing to the general smooth running of the team.Experience

  • Recent graduate with a minimum 2:1 degree (or equivalent qualification) in a business, marketing or related degree
  • Practical experience in a professional services environment, ideally with exposure to marketing or business development e.g. internship, work experience, placement year etc.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills with an ability to engage at all levels
  • The ability to communicate professionally at all levels within the firm and when representing the firm externally
  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to prioritise, work calmly under pressure to tight deadlines, and handle last minute changes
  • Good attention to detail and problem solving skills
