Following its continuous growth, ESHRE is seeking to extend its staff and is now looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic: (Bio)medical Literature Research Specialist, ‘Guideline Development Programme in Reproductive Medicine’.Job descriptionAs Literature research specialist you will be a key person in ESHREs Guideline development programme which aims to develop and update guidelines in the field of reproductive medicine.More information on the ESHRE Guidelines and the standardised methodology is available in the guidelines section of the ESHRE website ( ).As Literature research specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting stepwise literature searches to identify relevant evidence, ensuring a systematic and thorough approach to sourcing data;
  • Documenting and storing search strategies, ensuring transparency and reproducibility for future reference;
  • Selecting evidence for preliminary review, based on relevance to the topic or guideline under development;
  • Assessing the quality of the selected evidence, using established criteria to ensure it meets required standards;
  • Summarising evidence in clear and structured evidence tables, and applying appropriate grading systems to rank the strength of the evidence;
  • Formulating and classifying recommendations, ensuring they are phrased according to standardized language and classification frameworks;
  • Recording any evidence gaps identified during the literature search, to inform future research or guideline updates;
  • Updating literature searches every two years for each guideline, ensuring recommendations remain current and evidence-based;
  • Providing technical support to guideline development groups, ensuring smooth collaboration and accurate integration of evidence into guidelines.

You will perform these tasks in close collaboration with the other members of the ESHRE Guidelines Team. For each project, you will collaborate with a group of topic experts.ProfileThe ideal candidate holds a master’s degree in (bio)medical sciences or a related field. You have some understanding of the principles and techniques of searching and summarizing evidence and of guideline development. Completing a PhD program aligns well with the job content and is considered valuable.Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are essential. You are able to collaborate and communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals from different backgrounds and disciplines.Basic knowledge of databases searches (such as PUBMED and Cochrane), information management software (such as EndNote), and guideline development methodologies (such as GRADE) is a plus.Willingness and ability to travel internationally (within Europe) a few times per year is required for this role.OfferESHRE offers you a challenging position within an international environment.
