Job Summary

The Benefits Specialist EMEA partners with counterparts in the Americas and APAC and is responsible for ensuring that the EMEA benefits programs within Nordson are properly administered, inventoried and governed.  Functions as a Continuous Improvement lead for benefits and is point on all acquisitions and resulting integrations.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Understands and maintains inventory of all benefits and programs offered in EMEA; partners with global consultant to provide analysis and benchmarks to support changes and consolidations.  Collaborate with local HR Business Partners (HRBPs) to develop recommendations for program revisions/enhancements during annual renewals.  Identifies and recommends process improvements to gain efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Handles all incoming Benefits questions from employees and managers in EMEA
  • Generate and provide various standard and ad-hoc reports for compliance, claims and billing requirements and approve invoices on benefits services.
  • Provides oversight and partners with HRBPs and HR Services on deployment of new programs with focus on EMEA.
  • Liaises with benefits broker and various benefits vendors to ensure operational efficiency, that compliance is adhered to and to partner on complex challenges / solutions.  Ensures administration complies with  applicable international and local laws; provides support to Works Council liaisons in EMEA countries. Maintain and answer questions on existing local Benefit policies, e.g. overtime, home office policies, additional leaves, etc.
  • Participates in acquisitions from beginning with due diligence through integration for HR and benefits related activities; work closely with SMEs and HRBPs
  • Supports and/or leads benefits related projects in EMEA and other regions (APAC and Americas) as needed
  • Administrates new hires, terminations and changes to Benefits plans. Provides changes and leads communications to Finance/ Payroll and external providers.
  • Back- up for Compensation Specialist EMEA and carry out other duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a benefits role including demonstrated experience in a global company including international experiences/exposures
  • Knowledge of Benefit plans in one or more of the following countries: Germany, UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Israel and Italy
  • Experience with working with all functions of HR, Legal, HRIS and Finance/accounting
  • Demonstrated experience with leading projects

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Native or business level proficiency (verbal and written) in English, German and preferably another European language
  • Strong analytical skills

  • Excellent team player skills, with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills; ability to coordinate tasks and resources, communicate and deliver project updates.
  • Highly proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong compliance acumen and ability to research, analyze and clearly present information and data.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences with an ability to work discreetly on a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues.
  • Ability to develop an understanding and practice of Nordson values and competencies
