Location
This iconic Resort is situated between the renowned Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest in Tropical North Queensland. The resort comprises of 295 guest rooms, suites and villas.
Department
Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas is seeking highly skilled, motivated and experienced Bartender/Mixologist to join our Daintree Bar Team. We’re looking for someone who is ready to go beyond in everything they do and create memorable experiences for our guests.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Prepare drink orders for guests according to specified recipes using measuring systems.
Issue, open, and serve wine/champagne bottles.
Comprehend and utilise the techniques of selling and the importance of increasing the average beverage check, recognising every opportunity to up-sell.
Set up and maintain cleanliness and condition of bar, bar unit, tables, and other tools.
Prepare fresh garnishes for drinks.
Stock ice, glassware, and paper supplies.
Transport supplies to bar set-up area.
Wash soiled glassware.
Remove soiled wares from bar top and tables and place in designated area.
Anticipate and communicate replenishment needs.
Process all payment methods.
Count bank at end of shift, complete designated cashier reports, resolve any discrepancies, drop off receipts, and secure bank.
Secure liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas.
Report and/or take action on any equipment breakdown or safety issue relevant to your work area.
Know the food and beverage prices.
Know the operating hours of all food and beverage outlets.
Ensure that the liquor, tobacco and licensing laws are abided by and understand the correct procedures for handling an intoxicated and underage guest.
Know and follow the procedures for correct service of beverages and be knowledgeable of wines.
Ensure you watch for the arrival of guests, making a point to greet and acknowledge them even if they can not be served immediately.
Closely monitor quality and presentation of all food and beverages, quality of service and the guest experience.
Ensure that your work area is kept clean at all times.
Show due care of all equipment, report maintenance issues to supervisor.
Report and/or take action on any equipment breakdown or safety issue relevant to your work area.
To attend work on time, ensuring that you are at your workstation in line with your rostered shift requirement
To be successful in these positions you will need to possess the following minimum requirements:
Bartender/Bar Attendant experience within a 5* or high-end environment
The ability to make complex cocktails and a strong knowledge of beverage options including spirits and wines
Able to work a 7 day a week rotating roster
Previous experience essential
Immaculate grooming standards
Strong communication skills & attention to detail
Able to make good decisions
Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate of Attainment
