What’s the role?
News.com.au is searching for an audience specialist with whip-smart-insight -driven news judgement who can help our outstanding newsroom continue to reach more people.
This is a fulltime, permanent position based in our Sydney office (next to central station).
Key Responsibilities:
Author, plan, produce, publish and distribute content across our platforms, basing decisions on audience insights and analytics
You will manage the day-to-day workflow of a team of audience producers, including training and supporting their skill development and knowledge of content optimisation
You are a source of truth on how we are connecting with audiences on every platform and ready to offer insights to all levels of the newsroom
You take the lead on diving into the data but critically have a unique ability to turn it into actionable insights that are motivating to our team
Identify SEO content issues and action solutions
Work closely with senior editors and the video team on video-led content
Who are you?
5+ years experience in a digital newsroom, including roles in audience or content distribution
A master collaborator with all levels of a newsroom – with the tact to prompt senior editors to consider other points of view and the patience to train junior reporters and new starters so they’re set up for success
Solid understanding of the continually evolving approaches needed to tailor our journalism to external platforms, particularly Google and Meta
Excellent planning and scheduling skills to stay afloat in a busy, “always on” news cycle
Can write or re-write headlines and identify images and vision that will drive audience engagement and traffic growth
Able to thrive in a fast paced environment
Team player, wants to support your teammates and willing to jump in to get things done
