With a continued record of growth and stability, we’re on the constant lookout for fresh talent to join our expanding teams.The Optum Payment Integrity Automation Centre of Excellence supports the organization through the delivery of automation solutions, using existing, new, and emerging technologies to enhance savings, improve productivity and quality and reduce cost. We are seeking an experienced Automation Delivery Lead (Associate Director) to oversee the design, implementation, and management of automation initiatives across our organization. This role will focus on delivering business value through automation projects, leveraging Agile methodology while incorporating aspects of Waterfall for portfolio tracking and benefits management. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, skilled in managing cross-functional teams, and adept at balancing multiple project delivery approaches.The Delivery Lead (DL) holds the responsibility for the overall success of the automation solutions being developed or maintained across our Non-Clinical Portfolio. The DL ensures that what the team builds is per the requirement, and they collaborate with Business Stakeholders, Product Owners and Development teams. The DL also engages with the business, Product Owners & respective Transformation Office on benefit management and reporting. This role has significant relationships and responsibilities outside the local team, including working with Customers, Business Owners as well as our Transformation and Technology partners.Primary Responsibilities:
- In partnership with the Product Owner and Transformation Teams, define and lead the automation delivery strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives
- Oversee the end-to-end delivery of the Non-clinical Portfolio, aligned with WAVE bookings
- Lead Automation projects using Agile frameworks, fostering iterative development and continuous improvement.
- Act as a servant leader for Scrum teams, promoting collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Implement and manage Waterfall methodology components for portfolio management regarding, Roadmapping, workflow status reporting and benefit tracking.
- Ensure Scrum Teams maintain comprehensive project documentation and standardized reporting to ensure transparency and governance compliance.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify automation opportunities and prioritize initiatives based on value delivery.
- Work closely with technology partner, operations, and other teams to integrate automation solutions seamlessly into existing workflows.
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing automation delivery team.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, encouraging the adoption of emerging automation tools and techniques.
- Monitor and report on key performance metrics (KPIs) for automation initiatives, including financial benefits, time to value, cost savings, efficiency improvements, etc.
- Partner with Product Owners and Transformation Teams to provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders on project progress and benefit realization.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with automation delivery.
- Ensure robust issue management processes are in place to address challenges proactively.
- Provide direction to the Feature Teams and support the Product Owner to make prioritization calls.
- Acts as the liaison across all matrix partners.
- Work with the Product Owners, Transformation, Business and Technology teams defines the technical roadmap for the product.
- Manage the stakeholders and make decisions; say no to some ideas and requests.
- Engage with Leadership in the different value streams within the organization to understand the business needs and challenges, educate on the automation teams’ capabilities and technologies available
- Maintain an understanding of emerging technologies, research and thought leadership and contribute to ensuring best in class practice within the automation team

- Program Management Qualification and/or practical working experience in a Delivery Lead capacity
- Change Management Qualification and/or practical working experience
- Experienced in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including Waterfall and Agile methodologies
- Experience of implementing software or business transformation projects from ideation / requirements through to successful delivery
- Proven track record in delivering high value automation / technology solutions
- Experience working within an DevOps / Agile Framework (Scrum, LeSS, SAFe, etc.)
- Demonstrable track record of effective client and stakeholder communication and management
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the US Health Insurance Industry: Claim Adjudication, Payments and Eligibility
- Lean process improvement or six sigma qualifications / experience
- Strong team player with proven success in contributing to a team-oriented environment
- Displays an innovative mindset which contributes, promotes, and adopts new ideas and approaches
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to peers and senior management
