What your future may holdAs an Associate Digital, Data, IP & Technology (DDIT), you will be part of a forward-thinking team at a leading international law firm.A&O Shearman’s Belgian DDIT practice consists of 9 specialist lawyers based in their Antwerp and Brussels offices. This team supports leading local and international businesses in relation to intellectual property, technology and data law, with a particular focus on the life science and technology sectors. The team assists clients with the full range of legal services in these areas – including assistance on advisory work (including in relation to AI and data), transactions (including strategic outsourcing and digital transformation transactions) and major IP and life science litigations (including trademark and patent litigation).Your role will thus include:
- Advising clients on a range of technology, life sciences, and IP matters, including advisory, transactional, and litigation aspects.
- Working closely with senior lawyers and mentoring junior associates in a collaborative, team-driven environment.
- Handling complex, international matters in an entrepreneurial setting.
- Collaborating across multiple jurisdictions, with regular interactions with colleagues worldwide.
- Engaging in a broad mix of legal work, ensuring professional growth and exposure to diverse challenges.
- Managing client relationships.
Your skillsetWe are looking for a talented and driven lawyer with the following qualifications:
- A Belgian Master in Law with outstanding academic results.
- 3 to 6 years of experience in a reputable firm with a special focus on tech, IP and/or data – and preferably a focus on the life science and/or technology sectors.
- Experience with advisory work, transactions, and – to a lesser extent – litigation.
- Enjoying being at the forefront of the legal industry – advising on new areas and strategic client matters.
- Outstanding English proficiency, as well as French and/or Dutch (written and spoken).
- A strong team player mentality – someone who thrives on collaboration and sharing successes.
- An entrepreneurial spirit with excellent legal capabilities and communication skills.
