An Architect Studio in the East of England, is seeking an experienced Heritage Architect to join their team as a Maernity cover from May,Job # 9595Job Title: Architect, Heritage Consultancy, Maternity CoverAn award winning Architects in the East of England, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Heritage Architect to join their heritage consultancy team to cover maternity leave. This role will be to start from May, so it is expected this may begin with remote working – and they are all set up for this, then once things evolve the role will be working in the office with the rest of the team. Under current circumstances the practice will consider both part time and full-time applicants. Please state this clearly in your application.This is a great opportunity to join on the successful management and conservation of important heritage assets in the east of England and further afield.This role will include:

  • Reporting to the HC Team Lead, you will work as part of the regional team as well as the wider practice.
  • Taking responsibility for the successful management and delivery of your project work, and managing contributions by other staff and sub-consultants.
  • Providing heritage advice and guidance, undertake research and assessment of buildings and sites within the historic environment, and compose and contribute to various reports ie:; Conservation Management Plans, Historic Buildings Appraisals and Impact Assessments.
  • Preparing fee proposals and contributing to larger bids.

The right candidate must have:

  • A skills base in Archaeology, History, Art History or relevant field is a must, with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Excellent demonstrable experience of archival and desk-based research, on-site built fabric analysis and producing well-written reports.
  • Experience of providing heritage advice.
  • Working knowledge of current English heritage legislation, policy and guidance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are vital
  • A can-do attitude and an ability to engage creatively and originally in all aspects of the job are essential.

A bonus would be:

  • Membership(s) of professional institutions, such as the IHBC.
  • A UK driving licence
  • Experience of preparing tenders and fee proposals.
  • Ability to use GIS
