This position is open to recent actuarial grads, or trainees with 1-3 years experience, as there are two openings on the team. 

This is a Monday- Friday role at our Dublin Cherrywood office with Hybrid working available.

You must have valid Irish/EU/UK work rights to be eligible for this role.

The Financial Reporting team is responsible for the production of the IFRS17, SII and Value of New Business (VNB) results for Aviva Life and Pensions and the communication of these results to key stakeholders. The position is for a trainee actuary on the Financial Reporting team to support the delivery of all Actuarial Reporting requirements. Duties & Key Responsibilities: 

  • Production of timely and accurate Group and Local reporting requirements for SII and IFRS17. 
  • Calculation and analysis of new business metrics, Stress and Scenario Testing, sensitivities, and other analysis as required. 
  • Production, identification, and explanation of the sources of changes in the Own Funds and Solvency Capital Requirement via an Analysis of Change 
  • Analysis of VNB results and production of MI for Financial Technical Committee and ExCo packs explaining movements in results to our key stakeholders. 
  • Liaising closely with key stakeholders, in particular Pricing in relation to new pricing initiatives to ensure they are successfully incorporated within the VNB model. 
  • Assist Prophet model development team / testing in line with business requirements, liaising closely with the Modelling team, Pricing and IT teams. 
  • Support the development and BAU implementation of IFRS17 strategic kit and assist in the calculation of IFRS17 reserves. 
  • Drive improvements to the reporting processes e.g. automating processes using various tools such as SQL. 
  • Adherence to policy and procedures including controls complying with Aviva’s Financial Reporting Control Framework (FRCF). 
  • Liaising closely with internal and external partners such as Planning, Pricing, Finance Control, External Audit and Group as required. 
  • Involvement in projects, both reporting related and Aviva wide, as the opportunities arise. 

Skills and experience we’re looking for: 

  • Graduate or part qualified Actuary. 
  • Up to date knowledge and understanding of actuarial principles and methodology, including Solvency 2 and/or IFRS17 desirable. 
  • Knowledge of the financial structure and operation of life and pensions products and in particular have a strong knowledge of the structures of unit linked, with profit and term insurance products. 
  • Highly numerate and analytical. 
  • High degree of computer literacy. 
  • Delivery focused with a flexible attitude and approach, can-do mentality and enthusiasm. 
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and progress multiple deliverables. 
  • Confident communicator, with strong written and oral communication skills.
