As part of the Retail Services Industrial Placement, you’ll develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours to inform your career choices and contribute to the development and improvement of Nationwide’s processes, products and services in your department.Over the course of 12-months, you’ll gain a breadth of exposure to our frontline services (Branch, Contact Centres and Support function), building your skills and knowledge throughout your time on programme, through the delivery of projects, senior mentorship and feedback, and role specific training.We’ll need you to build rewarding relationships across the organisation and externally to understand customer needs, resolve problems and support the delivery of the Society blueprint.You’ll also attend development workshops and complete a project with other Industrial Placements aligned to our Social Impact strategy. Our Industrial Placements provide a direct pathway to our skills development programmes post-University.Enabling and delivering Simply Brilliant Service ​is what our teams do every day, so however a customer interacts with us they’re able to do what they need, quickly and easily. ​​We’re continuing to transform our channels, so we’re getting it right first time for our customers, more of the time. Increasingly service will be digital-first, as we deliver enhancements to our digital experience, but our people are what makes our service truly distinctive and they’re on hand to provide the human support to those that need it. Our colleagues are evolving too, so we can continue to meet the needs of our customers, whether through longer contact centre opening hours, 24/7 digital chat, or returning to face-to-face sales in our branches.LocationAt Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.For this job you’ll spend at least two days per week, based at our either Swindon or London offices and will be supported to regularly travel and attend different sites across our Retail and Admin sites. You can find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.What you’ll be doingOn the Retail Service Industrial Placement, you’ll develop over a 12-month period gaining the knowledge, skills and network our Retail Services function requires and provide you with experiences to inform your future career choices.The Industrial Placement journey will focus on developing our frontline customer service whilst striving to enhance our service performance, driving process improvement in a fast-paced environment and have exposure to senior leader forums to contribute and present ideas across multiple projects. You’ll be trained on role specific tools, software and methodologies across our frontline services (Branch, Contact Centre and Support function).You’ll gain access to a bespoke 12-month project aligned to our Social Impact strategy to develop core business skills, providing opportunities to learn new skills and apply them in a different context to your day job. Entry requirements:The 12-month placement runs from Sept 2025 – Sept 2026You must be studying toward an undergraduate degree in any discipline.Our Customer First behaviours are all about putting customers and members at the heart of how we work together.
