Visionaries like you work on teams that save lives by developing the medicines of tomorrow.Join us in developing treatments, finding cures, and pioneering the path from lab to life while championing patients every step of the way.Learn more atWe are searching for the best talent for Principal Scientist – Accelerated Predictive Stability Modeling for the department of Analytical Development – Analytical Method and Stability Center (AMSC) in Beerse, Antwerp, Belgium.Our mission of AMSC is to develop and validate innovative analytical methods that deepens our scientific understanding of the stability of Drug Substances (DS) and Drug Products (DP) for small molecules and new modalities. We achieve this through the design, execution, and interpretation of tailored stability studies. Additionally, AMSC supports non-clinical release and manufacturing/characterization of DS and DP, from Phase I through to registration.As a Principal Scientist, you will play a key role as a stability expert within the AMSC team. Your responsibilities will include gathering in-depth stability insights on our synthetic drugs in development by designing accelerated stability studies and implementing a diverse range of predictive stability models.You will be responsible for:
- Lead and design tailored accelerated stability studies to enhance product understanding and support DP development and investigations from pre-New Molecular Entity to the late developmental phase.
- Develop risk-based predictive stability models supported by experimental data and in-silico assessments.
- Design and implement overarching predictive model strategies for stability related aspects during drug development that will impact specifications and shelf-life setting, packaging selection, formulation design and solid-state sciences.
- Evaluate and optimize existing stability approaches.
- Collaborate with drug chemistry teams to integrate mechanistical insights with stability knowledge and predictive modeling.
- Stay abreast with cutting-edge scientific advancements to ensure innovative and high-quality stability evaluations.
- Work within a multidisciplinary matrix environment and act as scientific mentor
- Collaborate within AMSC to standardize best practices and methodologies across all programs supported by the department.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- A Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Industrial Pharmacy, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biological or Physical Sciences, or a related field, with at least 3-5 years of relevant industry and/or academic experience. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in relevant fields with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Strong interest and experience in data, modeling and statistics.
- Solid understanding of pharmaceutical dosage forms and solid-state sciences.
- Expertise in drug substance and drug product development and related processes.
- Knowledge on accelerated stability testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with analysis tools like R, Matlab or Python is a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with fluency in English.
- Strong interpersonal skills, willing to constructively challenge the status quo and propose alternative solutions to existing problems.
