This post is an exciting opportunity to join the International and Private Patients service, working alongside clinicians and patients to provide a high quality service.Reporting to the International Deputy Service Manager for private healthcare, this role will be responsible for providing interpreting and liaison support to the patients and families, consultants, medical staff and other multidisciplinary professionals that have input in the care and management of Arabic-speaking private patients within the Trust.The post holder will be expected to work with referring organisations in order to streamline access to Trust services and assist in managing patient pathways efficiently and offer a high-quality patient experience.This is an exciting opportunity to join a developing team and have direct impact on patient care for Arabic speaking patients referred to GSTT.Main duties of the job
- To provide Interpreting & translation services within a clinical setting involving Arabic speaking private patients, Trust consultants, other clinical staff and management.
- Undertake both verbal and written translation requirements.
- Ensure that patients understand what is being said to them and are fully informed before signing any consent to treatment forms.
- To welcome and escort Arabic-speaking patients attending appointments or admissions at the Trust, explaining the facilities and procedures including all relevant health and safetyinformation.
- Provide day to day liaison support between administrative staff, clinical staff, Embassy’s representing offices, families and Arabic speaking private patients.
- When required in Arabic, to ensure all the appropriate information is collected from the referrer so that a full and effective clinical assessment can be made.
- The post holder is expected to liaise with patients, clinical staff and admissions, to ensure that patient activity is collected and documented daily.

- Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Professional Arabic Interpreting, translation qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrable capability and capacity for service delivery in a large, complex acute hospital environment.
Desirable
- Multilingual translation qualifications. Good medical terminology knowledge
- Evidence of continual professional development.
ExperienceEssential
- Experience of working with Embassy-sponsored adult and paediatric patients within a private healthcare setting.
- Knowledge and experience of developing relationships and referral pathways in a healthcare setting.
- Proven ability to liaise effectively within a multidisciplinary team based environment.
- Experience of providing interpreting and translation services

- Lived and worked in the Middle East.

- Ability to write and speak fluently in both English and Arabic languages
- Knowledge of the MENA countries and in depth knowledge of Arabic cultural and expectations.
- Excellent inter-personal and communications skills, coupled with diplomacy and tact
- Ability and willingness to handle confidential information without compromising confidentiality or trust.
