What You’ll do

As a Senior Geospatial Analyst you will be responsible for supporting business stakeholders by providing geospatial analysis, spatial data management, and visualization of spatial content. This includes carrying out analysis for site feasibility, permitting, development and construction of renewable projects, and maintaining underlying database content and mapping to support this. You will work with specific focus on supporting geospatial activities in Australia and New Zealand, as well as coordinating wider geospatial support across the APAC region. You will also contribute to global geospatial projects and initiatives to support the region.

Role and Responsibilities

• Geospatial Analysis & Reporting:

o Conduct spatial analysis to support business decisions, including site selection, environmental assessments, engineering, operations and risk management.

o Develop reports, maps, and visual presentations of geospatial data to communicate insights effectively to various stakeholders.

o Create and maintain workflows for automation of geospatial analysis and define related procedures.

o Provide recommendations based on geospatial findings to drive operational improvements.

o Provide support to global initiatives related to geospatial analysis and reporting.

o Oversee region specific geospatial projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.

• Data Management & Integration:

o Manage, clean, and update geospatial data, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and accessibility.

o Integrate diverse geospatial datasets from various sources, including satellite imagery, survey data, remote sensing, and more.

o Manage database content, ensuring data is organised, secure, and readily accessible for analysis.

o Create and maintain workflows for automation of data management and define related procedures.

o Maintain and ensure compliance with data standards and metadata management protocols.

o Ensure geospatial data is cataloged and maintained for use by stakeholders across the APAC region.

• Stakeholder Engagement & Support:

o Communicate complex geospatial analysis results in a clear and concise manner to non-technical stakeholders.

o Provide technical support to users, ensuring they can effectively utilise GIS systems and tools.

o Work closely with management to understand business requirements and lead project activities.

o Serve as the primary point of contact for all geospatial-related matters within the region, addressing issues and facilitating communication between departments.

• Leadership:

o Oversee region specific geospatial projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.

o Coordinate other GIS professionals within the region.

o Foster a collaborative working environment, encouraging innovation and knowledge sharing with others across the global geospatial team.

• Technology & Innovation:

o Support global initiatives related to emerging geospatial technologies including AI, machine learning, drones, and new innovations in GIS and spatial analytics.

o Drive the adoption of spatial technologies to optimize geospatial data analysis and visualization within the region.

• Training & Support:

o Provide training and support to regional teams and stakeholders on the use of GIS tools and systems.

o Promote best practices for GIS usage and ensure consistent understanding of geospatial technologies across the region.

Who we’re looking for

Experience:

• At least 4 years of experience in geospatial analysis, GIS, or a related field.

• Experience in GIS, remote sensing, data analysis, and geospatial modeling.

• Experience in geospatial data management and implementing associated standards and governance.

• Experience in map visualisation for various applications.

• Experience working with various Geospatial data formats.

• Experience working with large geospatial datasets and cloud-based solutions is an advantage.

• Experience in coordinating and leading geospatial activities.

Skills & Competencies:

• Expertise in the use of ArcGIS Pro, ArcSDE, Portal for ArcGIS, FME and Python.

• Knowledge of renewable energy project development processes and the role of geospatial data in project lifecycle management.

• Knowledge of applying coordinate reference systems and transformations.

• Excellent Communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels

Education and Qualifications

• Master’s or advanced degree in Geospatial Science, Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters degree in GIS, Geography or related fields. Certifications in GIS and work experience will be considered in lieu of higher degree.
