Job Title: Staff Grade Respiratory Physiologist
Location: North Dublin
Type: Permanent
Salary: €42,838 – €63,477We are seeking an enthusiastic Staff Grade Respiratory Physiologist to join our team in North Dublin within a Private Hospital Setting.The Staff Grade Respiratory Physiologist will be responsible for providing high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services in Pulmonary Function and Sleep Medicine. As a key member of the frontline team, the successful candidate will demonstrate professional competency, teamwork, and effective communication with colleagues and patients. This role requires a commitment to continuous quality improvement and professional development to ensure the highest standards of patient care.Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the efficient and effective delivery of respiratory diagnostic and therapeutic services in the hospital.
- Ensure the safe and coordinated delivery of services for patients, maintaining high-quality standards.
- Assist in the organisation, calibration, and maintenance of clinical equipment and identify equipment needs as required.
- Conduct a range of non-invasive respiratory diagnostic tests, including spirometry +/- reversibility, lung volumes, gas transfer, respiratory muscle strength tests, skin prick allergy tests, bronchial provocation tests, and sleep studies such as polysomnography and CPAP/BiPAP titration under consultant supervision.
- Ensure accurate storage and filing of clinical reports.
- Support the development and monitoring of resources to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
- Report and document incidents, complaints, and equipment defects, investigating circumstances where necessary and taking appropriate action.
- Ensure services align with the latest research findings and best practices.
- Maintain proper and accurate records in accordance with hospital policies.
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and multidisciplinary teams while upholding patient confidentiality.
- Liaise with Medical Consultants, Clinical Nurse Managers, and other hospital staff to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Identify opportunities to enhance patient care and service development.
- Ensure departmental systems are effective, timely, and cost-efficient.
- Participate in annual service reviews and assist in the preparation of reports.
- Maintain awareness of the hospital’s critical incident management plan and ensure readiness in case of emergencies.
- Monitor stock levels and assess usage to ensure efficiency and cost savings.
- Promote a patient-centred culture of dignity, respect, and responsiveness to feedback.
Essential Criteria:
- BSc in Clinical Measurement Science or equivalent, as recognised by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science (IICMS).
- Evidence of continued professional development, including attendance at relevant courses and examinations.
- Ideally, some postgraduate experience in a similar role.
