Purpose of the Role:Your role will be responsible for developing and implementing crop management strategies, including soil health, irrigation, nutrient management, and plant health programs, through crop monitoring and research investigative works, that align with the business’s goals for productivity, profitability, and environmental stewardship.Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:1. Strategic Crop Management:– Develop and implement cropping programmes to maximise yield and quality.– Monitor and analyse crop performance, adjusting strategies as appropriate.– Collaborate with breeding and nursery partners to ensure the availability of high-quality plant material.– Develop Crop programmes in line with best practice, aligning to company goals on quality, sustainability, profitability and our Better Food, Better World mission.– Oversee the purchasing of Cropping Consumables with the support of Group Procurement, ensuring the timely delivery of required consumables.2. Agronomy Management:– Develop and Oversee an Agronomy support team.– Coordinate and delegate tasks related to crop monitoring and advisory services as appropriate.– Ensure timely and accurate reporting on crop health and management activities.– Support the growing team with advisory and insight on appropriate crop management strategies, including crop protection and nutritional strategies according to crop needs.– Develop and implement strategic plans for agrochemical application, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.3. Research & Innovation– Drive Research and innovation initiatives across the farms:– Identify, develop and delivery professionally managed Research activities to deliver advancements to the benefit of the horticultural industry.– Support the farms team to design, implement and actively project manage research activities across all areas of the farms.– Support the adaptation and implementation of appropriate research and innovation outputs which promote the activates of the farm enterprise in line with Keelings Strategies.– Work Collaboratively with the Farms management team to develop implementation and adaptation strategies for new technologies as proven through industry or research activities.Key Skills & Knowledge

  • Obtained Level 8 or greater in an appropriate field (Ecology, environmental, crop or horticultural sciences)
  • 10+ years working with crop management in a senior capacity.
  • Fluent English (Written and spoken)
  • Full Driving license
  • Project Management qualification

– Prince 2 / PMBOK an advantage

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer productivity system literacy is critical.
  • Strong Administration & Planning skills,
  • Comprehensive understanding or Research controls processes.

Desirable:

  • Qualification in Entomology
  • Qualified pesticide advisor
