  • Contributing to the development of solution architectures in specific business, infrastructure or functional areas. Identifies and evaluates alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost, performance and scalability.
  • Contributing to the creation and review of the enterprise and business architecture which meets the strategic capability requirements of the business.
  • Taking responsibility for understanding client or business requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis and problem resolution. Identifies, evaluates and recommends solution options.
  • Adopting and adapting to appropriate systems design methodology, tools and techniques selecting from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches, and ensures they are applied effectively.

Designing large or complex system components using appropriate techniques following agreed architectures, design standards and patterns. Identifies and evaluates alternative design options and trade-offs. * Investigating and reporting on hazards and potential risk events within a specific function or business area. Making recommendations and assesses and manages associated risks.

  • Reviewing others’ proposed information systems designs, to ensure compliance to the organisations obligations and adherence to overall strategy & architecture. Review the selection of appropriate solution options, technology, and integration of multiple systems.
  • Ensuring that the system design balances functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Contributing to development of systems design policies and standards and selection of architecture components.
  • Implementing stakeholder engagement/communications plan. Dealing with problems and issues, managing resolutions, corrective actions, lessons learned and the collection and dissemination of relevant information.
  • Collecting and using feedback from customers and stakeholders to help measure effectiveness of stakeholder management. Helping to develop and enhance customer and stakeholder relationships.

To be successful in this role you will require the following…

  • Understanding of TOGAF or equivalent Architecture Frameworks
  • Knowledge of systems integration standards including ESB, SOA, JSON, XML, Micro Services, APIs and messaging solutions
  • Knowledge & experience of testing for non-functional requirements
  • Knowledge and experience of build, deployment, change and release processes and automation.
  • Experience of web technologies, enterprise software platforms and database driven applications such as Java EE/ Oracle.
  • Experience of designing and deploying scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems on AWS or similar cloud-based technology
  • Experience with analysis in an agile/ scrum team to describe requirements in terms of Themes, Epics, User Stories and acceptance criteria
  • Familiarity with a variety of Enterprise Architecture tools and techniques, such as data modelling, structured analysis & design, use cases, Object Oriented analysis & design
  • Understanding of terms such as backlog, burndown, and velocity
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • AWS Associate Solutions Architect would be advantageous
