Our R&D Engineers in Galway are directly involved in working on the development of innovative products for use in medical procedures.The Structural Heart and Aortic Integrated operating unit offers minimally invasive approaches to restore proper structure and function of the heart and the aorta. We are focused on the transcatheter replacement or repair of the four heart valves – aortic, pulmonic, mitral, tricuspid – and the placement of stent grafts to treat aneurysms and dissections of the body’s largest artery, the aorta. As an R&D Engineer, you will be tasked with supporting a team in the technical development of new products through early-stage investigation/research and/or translation of that into commercial medical devices.Come for a job, stay for a career!A Day in The Life Of:
- Contribute to developing products for use in medical procedures as defined / required by the business needs of the company.
- Responsible for establishing the most effective, reliable, and cost-effective processing methods for manufacturing operation.
- Provide technical support to product and process development and on field related activities such as clinical programs and complaint investigations.
- Leading multidiscipline teams in planning and implementing the introduction of new products, in line with marketing plans and undertaking specific projects as designated in support of the business activities of Medtronic.
- Support the introduction / implementation of product / process / materials changes to the manufacturing operation.
- Participate in sourcing, testing and approving materials.
- Effectively represent Medtronic Vascular externally with our customers.
- Document design / development / test activities as required in Engineering Laboratory notebooks.
- Design, develop, analyze, troubleshoot, and provide technical skills during research and / or product development.
- Design studies to investigate specific life science questions within your field of expertise.
- Involved in product research and development and / or clinical trials.
- Translate research discoveries into usable and marketable products.
Key Skills & Experience
- Level 8 Degree in Engineering / Science or related discipline with minimum 2 years relevant direct engineering experience or PHD with 0 years of experience.
- Medical device technology experience, ideally in interventional vascular devices would be advantageous.
- Experience in biomedical materials, processing knowledge and medical device design procedures.
- A proven track record in innovative design, product development and manufacturing.
- Dynamic team player who can work effectively and proactively on cross-functional teams.
- Strong interpersonal and team management skills.
