Job Description:Grade UE07: £40,247 – £47,874 per annumCollege/School/Department: CMVM / Institute for Regeneration and Repair / Centre for Inflammation ResearchFull-time: 35 hours per weekFixed Term: 2 yearsWe are looking for an experienced Postdoctoral Researcher to focus on the immunopathology of lung injury and inflammation in the Baillie Gifford Pandemic Science Hub (BG PSH). Our hub is unique and is comprised of scientists, clinicians, professional services staff and students whose primary aim is to use human genetics and experimental medicine to rapidly identify, evaluate and progress re-purposed drugs. The PSH is led by Professor’s Kenny Baillie and Kev Dhaliwal and the successful candidate will contribute to a large portfolio of drug discovery programmes that go from bench to bedside.This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week).The Opportunity:The role will explore the biological impact of genes identified to be critical in lung disease and will use and develop advanced human models of lung pathology. The role will interface closely with colleagues in chemistry and HT-drug screening and contribute directly to target characterisation, prioritisation and progression.Your skills and attributes for success:
- Appropriate degree, with relevant post-graduate research experience and accumulated knowledge.
- A PhD or equivalent professional qualification and/or experience in the field of biology / immunology / lung injury.
- Extensive tissue culture experience, including primary cell culture and RT-PCR.
- Imaging techniques including multiplex – flow cytometry, IHC and ICC and immunoassays including ELISA / Western blotting.
- Experience of working with Human Precision Cut Lung Slices (PCLS).
