The Position

Reporting to the Head of Medical Affairs, CRM, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Medical Science Liaison Head, CRM based in either NSW, QLD, or VIC to come and join our high performing team!

Your role as the Medical Science Liaison Head, CRM will be to lead and manage the implementation of strategy and operational MSL activities across CRM therapeutic area.

An important part of this role is you will also be tasked to enable specialist scientific/medical support to internal and external customers to achieve appropriate use of Boehringer’s medicines and best patient outcomes.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Work with cross functional business partners to fully integrate the MSL strategy with brand/commercial strategies.

  • Ensure clear roles, accountabilities and KPIs for MSLs.

  • Revise strategy and operational plans based on KPI results where required to achieve brand goals.

  • Establish and maintain oversight of customer mapping (EE target lists), formulation of engagement plans and adherence to customer management platforms.

  • Utilise local and international conferences for scientific upskill (self and MSL team) and customer engagement, as per MSL strategy.

  • Act as a functional expert, and leader for the MSL team:

  • Attract, coach, and develop the capabilities and standards required to support MSL and talent management strategies (incl. use targeted selection approaches, conduct training needs analysis, focus on customer engagement skills, foster culture of our new behaviours, and ensure compliance with regulations).

  • Activities may range from the development and management of onboarding, training programs, coaching days, mentoring, assistance with accessing relevant resources.

  • Manage team resources and administration, including maintenance of the MSL job profile, recruitment, distribution of work, goal setting, performance reviews, development planning, salary notifications, adherence to company policies (e.g. leave, expenses, travel) and budget management.

  • Lead, manage, and contribute to special projects as required and within scope of expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology/pharmacology (or other relevant tertiary qualifications). Masters/PhD is not required but is highly regarded.

  • 5+ years of experience as an MSL is preferred.

  • Must have people management experience.

  • Demonstrated expertise in the MSL function and related capabilities.

  • Knowledge of key laws and regulations governing scientific communications and policies and procedures relevant to MSL activities.
