Their mission is to transform cancer treatment by developing innovative therapeutics by leveraging their discovery platform and deep expertise in small molecule drug discovery.Overview:This will give you a unique opportunity to assume responsibilities to execute target prioritization and selection while developing highly effective research operations to advance innovative concepts from early research into asset discovery programs. This role will require the capacity to champion new targets and help determine the strategic direction of the company by supporting the progression of our new precision oncology pipeline candidates.The ideal candidate is a scientific expert within the Cancer / Precision therapy / Immunology field. The Head of Biology will be an individual with strong biological insights that can leverage the findings from the drug discovery engine to deliver screen results and assays to support the discovery of new small molecules to develop with the new target assays.In this challenging position you will take on the responsibility for early-stage drug discovery related activities inside the company. As this is a technology engine driven company, you will ensure its successful continued development, as well as the emergence of new target candidates. In this position, you will have responsibility for the corporate scientific deliverables related to the drug discovery engine and can expect the following key accountabilities:Key Responsibilities:
- Direct Reporting: Report directly to the Chief Scientific Officer and collaborate closely with the management team.
- Research Leadership: Oversee research efforts to identify and develop promising therapeutic candidates.
- Team Management: Mentor and guide a team of lab technicians and research scientists to advance innovative projects.
- External Collaboration: Foster relationships with academic institutions and contract research organizations to drive research initiatives and secure funding.
- Scientific Leadership: Provide strong leadership for the science team, ensuring alignment with company values and goals.
- Scientific Contributions: Contribute to various scientific documents, including development plans, patent applications, presentations, and grant proposals.
- Assay Development: Assist in the creation of unique assays and standard operating procedures to support research and development.
- External Engagement: Interact with external stakeholders, such as scientific experts, patients, investors, and media, as needed.
Profile:
- PhD with at least 5 years of relevant experience and a strong track record of scientific achievement in Oncology and Immunology.
- Proven scientific leadership and capable of working closely at the interface of biology, discovery, and development to catalyze the discovery of new products and building organizations from the ground-up.
- Preferred experience in Industry R&D or biopharma, as well as experience in drug discovery and early-stage translational work.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver key milestones from inception to in vivo POC and the ability to contribute to multiple target programs simultaneously.
