Protein Biochemisty group has a mission to design and generate vaccine candidates by understanding their relation to disease using state-of-the art technology and talent, ensuring delivery of best-in-class vaccines to the patients.Job purpose:The Scientist in Protein Biochemistry group is expected to design and execute scientific studies in the lab, under guidance of the Lab head, to support vaccine pipeline projects in discovery, development or life cycle management. More specifically, you will be the reference in the team for technicians and the associate scientists, for the planning of their day-to-day activities, data generation, analysis and troubleshooting.Your responsibilities:

  • You are responsible for the routine planning, design, implementation/execution, and interpretation of scientific research experiments in support of vaccine research and development.
  • You supervise technicians and associate scientists, ensuring clear and effective communication, task allocation, and performance monitoring.
  • You are the key person to create the bridge between the lab head and the technicians/Associate scientists.
  • You perform data management and draw conclusions from experimental data. Based on data interpretation, suggest next steps to meet project objectives.
  • You ensure timely data collection, & reporting (including participation to internal/external scientific documents) in area of responsibility.
  • You participate actively and present lab results in internal meetings, working groups and technical teams and ensure extensive quality check of raw data.
  • You solve complex problems through analytical thinking to identify and understand alternatives using knowledge gained through formal education, experience, and sound judgement.
  • You ensure that highest ethical standards, good scientific practices & data integrity are implemented in daily scientific activities.
  • You demonstrate knowledge of the key research activities and basic regulations.
  • You take appropriate actions to resolve issues in area of responsibility affecting research progress.
  • You communicate issues proactively and effectively negotiate potential solutions.
  • You can participate in coordinating master students.

Why you?Basic Qualifications:We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • PhD in protein biochemistry/Structural Biology/Biophysics
  • In depth understanding and hands-on experience in recombinant protein purification, biophysical characterization and structural biology techniques (e.g. IMAC, Size exclusion chromatography, Anion exchange, Western Blot, SDS PAGE, Octet, AUC, DLS, UPLC, NanoDSF, CD spectrophotometry, other protein-protein interaction methods, Crystallography, CryoEM, etc)
  • Wide expertise in protein science, biochemistry and molecular biology.
  • Familiarity and/or previous exposure to high throughput and/or large-scale protein production and purification workflows in an academic/pharmaceutical/Biotech environment.
  • Fluent in English, oral and writing. Proficiency in French would be highly advantageous.
  • Good communication skills, oral and writing
  • Ability to present scientific data to the team
  • Good project scientific/technical strategy skills

Preferred qualifications:If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • PhD in Life Sciences with +/-1 year of postdoctoral/industry experience
  • Experience in managing technicians
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a research or development project within the area of expertise.
  • Capability to lead projects and implement strategies within a complex matrix organization.
  • Experience in mRNA-based vaccine is an asset.
