Amazon Web Services is seeking a motivated professional for a Data centre Logistics Manager position. The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, and a commitment to Operational Excellence.

The Logistics Manager is responsible for the oversight of multiple spare parts rooms located in staffed and un-staffed Data centres. The role incorporates analyzation and continuous improvement around effectiveness of work methods, procedures, controls, and staffing. Our Logistics Managers ensure performance plans are set, maintained, continuously improved upon, and difficult problems are met with creative solutions to achieve highly accurate and timely inventory.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage, coach, and develop Logistics Specialists utilizing available training programs, informal (e.g. on-floor coaching) and formal (e.g. written evaluation) job performance based feedback.

  • Generate and communicate highly accurate, accessible inventory metrics reporting to Stakeholders

  • Develop and implement consistent metrics to gauge employee performance.

  • Train hourly associates in required department processes.

  • Creatively resolve problems and make department impacting decisions in a highly ambiguous environment

  • Run stock level reports and analyze results; optimize on-hand stock levels in effort to decrease cost-to-serve and increase efficiency of stock holdings.

  • Set and monitor inventory levels of stock rooms to ensure that proper stock levels are maintained to support build and repair activities.

  • Work closely with the logistics purchasing team to ensure cluster level stock is kept at appropriate levels.

  • Design, assess, and implement new strategies and initiatives to continuously exceed Customer expectations.

  • Continuous improvement through implementation of LEAN processes

About the team

We are experiencing rapid growth, therefore your onboarding will be dynamic in nature, where you will gain diverse experience working in new and established AWS data centre’s. These future Amazonians will rotate through various AWS locations to complete training as part of their onboarding to prepare for deployment in a data centre region. This training will be completed over a duration of 6-12 months. Once training is completed, individuals will be relocated to the permanent location.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5 years of management experience, including administering yearly performance reviews to direct reports and team development

  • 3+ years collecting data and reporting against key performance metrics.

  • 3+ years in inventory control and/or Inventory Management Systems (IMS/WMS)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to motivate teams and manage conflict; ability to provide effective feedback that will develop your teams

  • High attention to detail, follow-up, multi-tasking and conflict resolution.

  • Lean Certification

  • Six Sigma belt and Experience with BI Analytics

  • Bachelor’s degree (any field)
