Chevron Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Policy Advisor to join the Policy, Government and Public Affairs team. Reporting to the Government Affairs Manager, this permanent role will be based in Canberra at a designated office at Servcorp next to Hotel Realm.

This role will participate in and contribute to many areas of the business, including advising on all Federal government policy and regulatory environments for both Chevron Australia’s current and future business needs.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading and overseeing research and assessment of the potential impact of existing and emerging federal government policy issues, legislation, and regulation on Chevron Australia’s existing and future business opportunities and provide policy advice.

  • Providing advice and understanding where Federal policy intersects with state government policy.

  • Coordinating, writing, and managing policy and regulatory reform consultation processes and submissions on behalf of Chevron Australia.

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key Federal government agency stakeholders and represent Chevron on industry policy committees and forums.

  • Ensuring key internal stakeholders are kept appraised of the likely direction of future government policy relating to regulation and policy developments in Australia.

To be considered for this role, applicants should have:

  • Demonstrated experience in policy design, development and/or assessment, preferably in the energy sector, and well-developed analytical and research skills

  • Experience working for or with Federal government agencies and regulators, and a demonstrated ability to proactively identify and build key relationships that contribute to high-class business results

  • Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to deliver high quality verbal and written policy advice to a diverse audience

  • Ability to work independently, proactively identify priorities and manage risk to deliver high quality advice in a timely fashion

  • A strong understanding and interest in the social/political landscape, stakeholder issues and impact on Chevron

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in public policy, science, business, economics or related field

  • Demonstrated commitment to Chevron’s values of integrity, partnership, and trust

  • You must be legally entitled to work in Australia to apply for this position and if successful, will be required to show proof of employability such as a certified copy of your passport or birth certificate. An Australian visa check will also be completed.
