About the role:

Our Geosciences team is an integrated geotechnical engineering, hydrogeological and environmental consultant to a wide range of clients working on infrastructure and developments, both for private and public entities across Australia. Due to continued growth in our Geosciences team, we have an opportunity for a Principal level Geotechnical Engineer to join our Brisbane or Mackay office.

Day to day tasks would involve:

• Plan, coordinate and manage multiple concurrent site investigations to deliver geotechnical investigative reports – including interpreting geotechnical data, performing analysis and making recommendations.

• Undertaking geotechnical analysis in areas such as slope stability, pavement designs, foundations and retaining walls.

• Lead and manage the delivery of projects, ensuring work outputs are of a high technical standard.

• Undertake interpretation and analysis of data to develop and implement practical and commercial solutions.

• Managing key projects from start to finish in line with project specifications.

• Promote a culture of high performance, delivery and continuous improvement and mentor and coach more junior team members.

• Support the Team Leader and others across the company on opportunities and pursuits.

• Provide input to strategic planning and implementation of initiatives within the business unit.

To be successful for this role you’ll need:

• Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering with completion of geotechnical electives and/or major as part of your university studies.

• 10 years’ practical experience, preferably with a geotechnical engineering consultancy

• Chartered Engineering credentials (RPEQ / CPEng / NER).

• Expertise in field geotechnical investigations including logging and supervision of geotechnical drilling activities as well as laboratory testing knowledge.

• Experience with engineering software packages such as gINT, GEOSTUDIO, PLAXIS, ROCSCIENCE, AutoCAD would be of assistance.

• A demonstrated passion for working in the geotechnical engineering discipline.
