Responsible for internal and external communications for the ABA’s Center for Global Programs (ABA Rule of Law Initiative, Center for Human Rights, and United Nations Representatives). Create, manage, and advance the ABA’s international strategic communications plan. Develop and drive content for ABA members and staff, the DRG policy community, and the general public. Manage coordination with other ABA entities to ensure compliance and effective outreach.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Creates, manages, and maintains strategic communications plan for the ABA’s Center for Global Programs.
  • Develops, fosters, and expands the brand identity, development, and institutional messaging for the U.S. and field offices.
  • Ensures consistency in messaging, branding, and the strategic alignment of content for Global Programs.
  • Manages web content, design, branding, and messaging.
  • Develops and deploys promotional materials.
  • Promotes the ABA and its international programs to external consumers and potential donors.
  • Supervises the development of programming for the annual outreach initiatives and institutional events.
  • Manages alumni group matters including membership, newsletters, and mailings. Engages alumni in legal specialist recruiting.
  • Develops and implements strategies to expand new and retain existing partnerships.
  • Coordinates with business development to ensure quality of submissions.
  • Manages ROLI Board/Council relations.
  • Coordinates with FJE fundraising efforts.
  • Responsible for event/event planning for ROLI/CHR.
  • Oversee ABA International efforts/awards (e.g., International Human Rights Award).
  • Manage all social media channels for ABA ROLI. Coordinate with CHR and ABA digital engagement on content.
  • Collaborates with ABA Government Affairs Office and Communications and Media Relations to optimize the positive perception of the ABA and ROLI.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Required Education, Qualifications, Experience

  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least ten years’ experience in marketing, and/or outreach.
  • Previous experience establishing, fostering, developing, and retaining donors and volunteers.
  • Previous experience creating donor and outreach initiatives in support of a broad organizational strategy.

Preferred Education, Qualifications, Experience

  • Possession of an advanced degree from an accredited college, university, or an ABA accredited law school.
  • Experience in the international development industry.
