Job description
This role is designed for individuals with no previous work experience who are eager to learn and develop their skills in backend web development and also mobile app development. The participant will work alongside experienced developers and gain hands-on experience in building and maintaining web applications and backend systems, with a particular focus on ONCOassist app and our AWS infrastructure. The daily tasks for this role will include: Assisting senior developers with coding, testing, and debugging backend components. Learning to set up and manage AWS services, including EC2, S3, and Lambda. Supporting the team in maintaining code documentation in accordance with ISO 13485 and ISO 27001 standards. Participating in code reviews and learning best practices in software development. Assisting with troubleshooting issues in the application and backend systems. Collaborating with the team to understand the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies. Understand iOS app development with Swift.Role Description This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP. Formal Training: AWS fundamental Training: The participant will be enrolled in online courses on AWS, leading to an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification. https://www.coursera.org/specializations/aws-fundamentals iOS App Development with Swift Specialization https://www.coursera.org/specializations/app-development Informal Training: Mentorship: The participant will be paired with a senior developer who will provide daily mentorship, offering guidance on best practices, code reviews, and career advice. On-the-Job Learning: The participant will learn by actively contributing to ongoing projects under the supervision of experienced team members. This will include hands-on tasks such as coding, debugging, and testing. Team Collaboration: The participant will attend daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings, learning how to work effectively in an agile development environment. Additional Training and Development Induction and Health & Safety: A comprehensive induction program will be provided, covering company policies, health and safety procedures, and an introduction to the tools and technologies used within the company. Workshops and Seminars: The participant will attend internal workshops on various topics related to software development, cybersecurity, and project management. Commitment to Learning and Development This placement is structured to provide the participant with a comprehensive learning experience, offering both formal training and hands-on practice in a supportive environment. The participant will gain valuable skills and knowledge that will enhance their employability and prepare them for a successful career in software development.
