International Medical Corps serves on the Gender-based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS) Steering Committee, along with UNFPA, UNHCR, UNICEF, and the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The GBVIMS was first established in 2006 for the safe and ethical collection, management and sharing of GBV-related data generated through service delivery. The next generation system, GBVIMS+/Primero, serves additional functions as an electronic tool for GBV case management services.

The successful candidate can be based anywhere in the world that International Medical Corps has a program office. It is a remote position with significant travel to country programs as requested.

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide technical support for Gender Based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS) users in countries with GBVIMS/ GBVIMS+ interagency rollout. Technical support includes regular engagement, rapid troubleshooting, and targeted, specialized capacity development efforts. The role will also contribute to key resources, including finalizing GBVIMS/GBVIMS+ rollout guidance and development of a facilitation guide for GBVIMS+ trainings.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Support for GBVIMS Country Rollouts

  • Provide focused on- and off-site field support to the GBVIMS/GBVIMS+ roll-out processes, with a focus on four country rollouts including System Administration for instances of GBVIMS+, to ensure alignment with GBVIMS guidelines and best practices.
  • Support new rollout, based on country selection, including assessment, planning, training design and delivery, and ongoing technical advice and capacity building to inter-agency GBVIMS/GBVIMS+ Coordinators, as well as users within data-generating organizations.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting on GBVIMS, GBVIMS+
  • Support GBV incident monitoring data analysis, and strengthen intersections with other protection information management systems (e.g. CPIMS+, Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism (MRM), Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Arrangements (MARA), etc.

Global GBVIMS Initiatives and Resource Development

  • Contribute to targeted regional and/or global interagency capacity development initiatives related to GBV case management and GBV data management
  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluation frameworks established by the GBVIMS Inter-agency Coordinator.
  • Finalize integrated GBVIMS/GBVIMS+ Rollout Guidelines
  • Formalize a GBVIMS+ training package, consolidating available resources and developing a facilitation guide.

Coordination

  • Serve in an interagency capacity, as part of the GBVIMS global Technical Team, coordinating closely with other, interagency team members
  • Represent the GBVIMS on behalf of the Technical Team, as needed and with varied audiences
  • Coordinate with IMC’s GBV Technical Advisors regarding use of the GBVIMS
  • Foster a safe and supportive working environment for all IMC staff and partners
  • Exemplify core principles of GBV programming, including respect, non-discrimination, responsible use of power, nonviolence, and promotion of gender equality

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Typically, master’s degree in related field such as social work, public health, international development, gender studies, human rights law, or related field.
  • Typically, 10+ years’ relevant experience, including experience implementing GBV prevention and response programs in humanitarian settings
  • Demonstrated commitment to GBV guiding principles
  • Familiarity with GBV case management processes and intersections with information management
  • Experience supporting staff delivering GBV case management services
  • Experience facilitating trainings
  • Experience in database development, usage and management
  • Demonstrated capacity to analyze data/statistics for humanitarian operations
  • Excellent Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Access and database software, including in depth knowledge of pivot table/chart and data analysis
  • Familiarity with browser-based applications, interfaces, workflows, role-based access
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues related to confidentiality, data safety/security and other ethical concerns related to the sharing on sensitive data between humanitarian agencies
  • Experience with humanitarian architecture and knowledge of mandates/roles of donors, UN agencies, and other NGOs
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to write technical documents and give presentations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working effectively independently and as a member of a team
  • Commitment to interagency coordination
  • Interest in international travel, including to remote and volatile locations
  • English required; French, Arabic or Spanish skills preferred.
