The role

Our Environment team provides strategic and practical solutions to clients with environmental management challenges. We are currently seeking a Senior or Principal Terrestrial Ecologist with BAM accreditation to take a lead role in supporting the Ecology practice across the NSW region. You will join a highly regarded team with industry experts across Marine, Aquatic and Terrestrial Ecology and a range of exciting projects across the Asia Pacific Region.

The role can be based in any of our NSW offices with work from home and other flexibility options. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing advice to a variety of infrastructure and natural resource management projects for private and public sector clients

  • Leading and coordinating environmental surveys and impact assessments of terrestrial ecosystems, specifically flora and fauna, biodiversity and habitat

  • Delivering environmental analysis, research and field surveys

  • Delivery of technical reports for clients and participating in proposal and tender production

  • Establish and drive a culture of efficient and effective delivery of all projects within Ecology

  • Managing the delivery of projects throughout the project life cycle, taking accountability for overall time, cost, and quality of delivery

  • Provide input to strategic planning and implementation of initiatives within the business unit

  • Building and maintaining client relationships on allocated projects and new opportunities

  • Promote a culture of high performance, delivery and continuous improvement and mentor and coach more junior team members

  • Support the BD Leader and others across the company on opportunities and pursuits

To be successful in the role you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science and/or Ecology

  • Minimum of 5 years’ post graduate Ecology experience ideally within a consulting, construction, or regulatory environment

  • Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) accreditation (or working towards)

  • Demonstrated identification skills in New South Wales flora, fauna and ecological communities

  • Thorough knowledge of relevant NSW / ACT standards and legislation

  • Driver’s license essential, 4wd experience preferable

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with internal/external clients as well as develop skills in junior staff

  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and encourage collaboration

  • Strong commercial acumen to financially manage projects and seek out new business development opportunities

Physical Requirements

Position includes both office and fieldwork and the applicant must be physically able to stand and work in the field including in remote areas for extended periods of time.
