Consultant in GeriatricsWe’re seeking a dedicated consultant in Geriatrics who shares our commitment to excellence to join our dynamic team. With a strong clinical reputation both in the hospital and the community, our team provides a comprehensive range of services to frail and older patients. We prioritize delivering high-quality, needs-based care, utilizing our expertise to shape and enhance services for this demographic within our Trust and beyond.In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to service transformation and development, gaining valuable experience in the process. Joining a well-organized department, you’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive environment focused on improving care for frail and elderly patients across our organization.Main duties of the jobThe role involves: * Supporting the development of a safe, efficient geriatrics service.

  • Covering for colleagues’ absences.
  • Participating in on-call duties.
  • Contributing to service development and planning.
  • Supervising junior medical staff.
  • Fulfilling teaching and education obligations.
  • Engaging in medical audit and CPD.
  • Potential managerial responsibilities, including budgeting.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential

  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Full Registration with the GMC with a licence to practice

Desirable

  • Higher degree: MD or PhD
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register via either CCT or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of interview / CESR / European Community Rights

Clinical ExperienceEssential

  • Understanding of all aspects of Geriatric Medicine
  • Experience requisite to meeting all aspects of the job plan

Desirable

  • Five years supervised training in an appropriate SpR equivalent training programme
