You will be responsible for performing and managing scientific experiments to support the development of novel therapies for neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease. You will be conducting and analyzing complex biological experiments by leveraging your experience, skills and scientific expertise in relevant in vitro and in vivo models for neurodegenerative diseases, focused on tau pathology. You will be working in a collaborative and interdisciplinary work environment alongside renowned experts. You will have the opportunity to work with cross-functional teams which offers the opportunity to broaden your knowledge of the entire product development process. - Conduct and interpret complex biological research to gain additional insights in support of development programs, in particular for Alzheimer’s disease.
- Focus will be to independently manage, design and perform high quality experiments that are in line with the larger project requirements, using established and novel technologies and utilizing your expertise in molecular biology and in vitro and in vivo models for tau pathology, to drive key decisions and shape the direction of our research programs.
- Do in-depth analysis and interpretation of the data and record and review information properly and accurately to draw appropriate conclusions.
- Clearly and effectively report the results and interpretation of studies and experiments through written and oral communication within the department.
- Stay abreast of the rapidly evolving field of Alzheimer’s disease research, keeping track of advancements, emerging technologies and breakthrough publications.
- Support lab resource management and use knowledge of costs and budget implications to submit material orders.
- Draft peer-reviewed manuscripts, tech reports, and patent filings.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-department teams and with external partners.
- Coach and mentor more junior colleagues in techniques, processes, and responsibilities.
- Understand and apply Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives in day-to-day interactions with the team.
Qualifications
- Candidate should have a PhD in Neuroscience with 3+ years of highly productive working experience, preferably partially in industry.
- Extensive research experience in neurodegeneration, tau pathology and antibody characterization is required. Additional experience with vaccinology and immunology is a plus.
- Hands on experience with primary cell cultures and biochemical analysis as MSD, ELISA and Simoa.
- Motivated to learn fast, intellectually curious, and well-informed on the latest scientific advances in the field.
- Demonstrates creativity and novel approaches to solving scientific problems.
- Strong organizational skills including the ability to independently manage several experiments simultaneously and to lead projects.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people within different departments and external collaborators.
- Detail-oriented, with excellent record-keeping skills according to established procedures.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to effectively present scientific data and concepts to international standards.
