Further information can be found on our .RoleBetter drugs are one of the most efficient and sustainable ways to improve healthcare, a key strategic orientation in Horizon Europe. New drug modalities such as macrocycles (MCs) are expected to be a key enabling technology for this strategic perspective. The goal of MC4DD is to train the next generation of European medicinal chemists in a multidisciplinary environment to promote European drug discovery competitiveness by advancing knowhow on MCs and long-term via the skills carried on by the researchers trained in the doctoral network.The recruited researcher will be based at , in the lab of , and it is anticipated the work carried out will lead to the award of a PhD degree. This studentship will be co-supervised by (University College London). During the three years, the researcher will undertake two fully-funded research placements at network partners [Abbvie (Ludwigshafen, Germany) and the University of Cambridge (in the lab of Prof )] to broaden their academic experience and also benefit from working in an industrial setting. There will also be regular international network meetings giving the researcher the opportunity to learn from other network members, sharing expertise and developing collaborative projects. Training workshops provided by senior researchers in the network will help the researcher develop their skills in a range of areas – from materials synthesis and characterisation to science communication and commercialisation.Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

  • Undergraduate degree in chemistry or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry
  • Ability to develop internal and external contacts in order to enhance knowledge and understanding and form relationships for future collaboration
  • Knowledge of a range of research techniques and methodologies
  • Ability to undertake academic research. Examples may include preparing, setting up, conducting and recording the outcome of experiments or field work, the development of questionnaires and conducting surveys
